Based on previous STI recruitment drives, here are the most frequently asked questions and how you should answer them to impress the panel.

1. Please Introduce Yourself.

How to Answer:

  • Tip: Keep it professional. If you have teaching experience, highlight it immediately to show you are not a complete fresher.

2. Why do you want to join the teaching profession?

How to Answer:

  • Avoid: Do not say “I need money,” “I am unemployed,” or “I need a job desperately.”
  • Say: “I have a passion for education and want to contribute to the department. I want to use my knowledge to help students succeed.”
  • Tip: Frame your answer to show that you are passionate about grooming the next generation, even if the position is temporary.

3. What are the qualities of an Ideal Teacher?

How to Answer:

  • Mention qualities like Patience, Subject Knowledge, Good Communication Skills, and Empathy.
  • Say: “An ideal teacher is someone who understands the individual needs of students, maintains a positive environment, and acts as a role model.”

4. How do you maintain discipline in the classroom?

How to Answer:

  • Explain that you believe in positive reinforcement rather than harsh punishment.
  • Say: “I will set clear rules at the beginning of the class, engage students in interesting activities so they don’t get bored, and address behavioral issues calmly but firmly.”

5. How will you handle a student who is weak in your subject?

How to Answer:

  • Say: “I will first try to identify the specific area where the student is struggling. I will provide extra attention, use easier examples to explain concepts, and encourage them to ask questions without fear.”

6. How do you handle conflict or fights between two students?

How to Answer:

  • Say: “I will separate the students immediately, listen to both sides impartially, and help them resolve the issue through dialogue. I will emphasize the importance of tolerance and classroom rules.”

7. How do you assess student performance?

How to Answer:

  • Mention that assessment isn’t just about exams.
  • Say: “I use a mix of methods including daily questioning during lectures (formative assessment), weekly tests, and observing their participation in class activities to ensure they understand the concepts.”

8. How will the STI initiative impact the quality of education in Punjab?

How to Answer:

  • Context: The Education Minister has stated that regular hiring is paused, and STIs are the current solution.
  • Say: “The STI initiative allows the government to fill vacant posts quickly with educated youth. This ensures that students do not suffer due to a lack of teachers, and it provides a platform for fresh graduates to gain experience and prove their worth for future permanent opportunities.”

Final Tips for Success

  • Dress Code: Dress formally and modestly.
  • General Knowledge: Be prepared for 1 or 2 questions regarding current affairs or general knowledge (e.g., names of current ministers).
  • Confidence: Since the interview is only 5 marks, your confidence and the way you present yourself matter more than knowing every single answer.
